Students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) may encounter difficulties with various aspects of learning, including attention span, impulse control, and organization. Left unaddressed, these challenges can hinder their ability to fully engage in academic tasks across different subjects. Particularly, subjects requiring sustained attention, organization, and self-regulation may present significant hurdles for students with ADHD. Casual Relief Teachers play a pivotal role in establishing an inclusive learning environment that accommodates the diverse needs of all students, including those with ADHD. By employing suitable instructional approaches and support systems, educators can optimize learning outcomes for students with varying abilities. This session will explore how to create supportive spaces for students with ADHD, will examine ADHD within the framework of Response to Intervention (RTI) as utilized by the Victorian Education Department as well as exploring strategies customized to assist students with ADHD, referencing the Victorian Education Department’s Program for Students with Disabilities (PSD). Participants in this course will deepen their understanding of ADHD and gain practical insights and techniques to effectively support all students. It is designed to cater for teachers who may engage closely with individuals or small groups of students with ADHD as well.
