Techniques to Support Struggling Readers - Primary

Primary literacy

Description:
Reading is a fundamental skill for any student to use across the curriculum. In this 90-minute webinar tailored for Casual Relief Teachers, we investigate effective techniques to support primary students who are facing challenges in reading. Whether grappling with decoding, comprehension, or motivation, CRTs play a crucial role in providing targeted assistance. In this session, participants will explore strategies to engage struggling readers and foster their literacy development. Attendees will be presented with practical ways to identify struggling readers and utilise differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs within the classroom. Presented by Jacqui Tarquinio, teacher and SOLAR Lab (LaTrobe's Science of Language and Reading) trained, CRTs will learn how to assess reading difficulties, implement intervention strategies, and create a supportive environment conducive to student growth.                  By the end of this course, CRTs will feel empowered with effective techniques to confidently assist primary school children in overcoming reading obstacles and unlocking their full potential.
