Brain breaks and movement exercises to sustain engagement

Classroom and behaviour management,
Classroom management

Description:
Brain breaks are an important part of learning. They are effective and simple strategies which provide small mental breaks designed to help students neurologically regulate, focus and attend. They typically encourage student mindful body awareness, some movement and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. These breaks allow students a small reset in the day and enhance energy and relaxation. This session will outline practical exercises and techniques to integrate brain breaks into your existing routines. These are techniques that can be used by all CRTs whether you are covering a single day or an extended contract within primary or secondary settings.
