EAL students

Description:
Students who are learning English as an additional language (EAL/D) have a complex set of language skills for learning. Their language skills can be integrated into a functional classroom. Teachers play a crucial role in creating an inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of all students, including those learning English as an additional language. By implementing appropriate teaching methods and support systems, Casual Relief Teachers can enhance the learning outcomes for students with multi-lingual abilities. In this 90 minute webinar, an experienced teacher will explore how to address the needs of these students within the framework of Response to Intervention (RTI), as utilized by the Victorian Education Department. We will explore strategies tailored to assist EAL/D students, drawing from the Victorian Education Department's Literacy Teaching Toolkit. Participants in this course will deepen their understanding of the abilities possessed by EAL/D students and acquire practical insights and techniques to effectively support them. This session is designed for CRTs and education support staff who may work closely with individuals or small groups of EAL/D students.
