STLN2333i The Victorian First Nations Treaty for schools

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum

Description:
The Victorian Government and the First People's Assemebly of Victoria are currently engaged in negotiations for a Treaty. This is a monumentally significant process in the history of Victoria and Australia. Every Victorian teacher has a responsibility to be informed about this process and to work with their students and the school community to understand the process, how to contribute when opportunities arise and to plan for the implications of the Treaty once finalised. This session will cover the treaty process, the resources available to schools and the community and the opportunities for communities to participate in the process. It is an important session to understand more about Aboriginal Lore, Law and Cultural Authority.
